Signed Sea Gull To Commemorate Warner Test Ton
Cricket Australia in conjunction with sportsmemorobiliagonemad.com have announced a very limited run of 500 Sea Gulls, each personally signed by David Warner.
It’s a chance for cricket tragics to own a unique piece of Austrlian sporting history. Each gull, an almost exact replica of the bird David Warner hit on his way to making the fourth fastest test hundred in history. Warner was on 88 when he drove the ball to the mid off boundary, only for it to be stopped by the hapless bird. He went on to score 180.
One Of The David Warner Signed Sea Gulls
Had it not been for the sea gull, Warner perhaps could have made it even higher up the list of fastest centuries. Indian captain M.S. Dohni later praised the efforts of the gull, saying his players could learn a thing or two about fielding from it.
Each of the signed birds will retail for $395. Warner has personally signed the left wing of each gull in recognition of the wing he hit during the match. The sea gulls are local Fremantle birds and will come in a special cricket themed presentation cage. A small piece of the WACA turf will line the base of the cage, the grills will be made from cricket stumps and shredded newspaper articles sacrilegiously referring to Warner as the new ‘Little Master’ after just one century provided as bird litter.
Once the time comes for your gull to go the big cricket oval in the sky, you simply redeem a voucher to have it stuffed and mounted, allowing you to continue to enjoy your investment for years to come.
A spokesman for sportsmemorobiliagonemad.com says he’s thrilled to be able to offer such a unique item. “We’re starting to think outside the square now when it comes to memorabilia. People still love bats and posters but we want to try and offer interesting and unique products that cater for all tastes. With the Warner Sea Gulls, we think we’ve done that.” he said.
The first hundered birds sold will also come with a DVD copy of the 1968 romantic drama ‘The Sea Gull‘ also starring David Warner and Vanessa Redgrave.
